Nikon is announcing today the new 3.2 megapixel, 3X (37 - 111 mm) optical zoom Coolpix 3500 digital camera. The new Nikon Coolpix 3500 model is based upon the innovative design of the 2.0 megapixel Coolpix 2500 announced last February at the annual PMA show but now has an extra megapixel along with a new gray color. The CP 3500 retains the unique inner swivel lens design found on the CP 2500 which we did find quite useful for multiple angle shooting flexibility, along with the thin shape and light weight that makes it easy to carry in a pocket. The Nikon Coolpix 3500 also features a built-in One-Touch Upload button for easy transfer of digital images to a computer or the Web for fast, & convenient sharing of pictures via USB connectivity and interaction with Nikon's included software. The camera uses Compact Flash type 1 memory storage cards, it operates on a thin Nikon EN-EL-2 Li-Ion rechargeable battery (the charger is included) and has 256-segment Matrix Metering. In addition to the fully Automatic Shooting Mode, the camera has a Continuous Shooting Mode to capture fast action and there are 12 pre-programmed Scene modes which work by automatically adjusting exposure and other camera settings to optimal setting for best picture results. The Coolpix 3500 captures 15 seconds of QVGA movies at 15 frames per second. The CP 3500 retains the 1/4 screen quick review mode, which continues to display a live view for continued picture taking, and the camera can easily make an additional resized copy of a saved image for uses such as faster e-mailing of pictures to friends. NIKON COOLPIX 3500 SAMPLE IMAGES POSTED (12/08/02)
We are posting this morning our first set of sample images taken with the brand new 3 megapixel "twist" styled Nikon Coolpix 3500 digital camera. The Coolpix 3500 is very similar to the 2 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 2500 which was announced at the PMA show in Orlando last February 2002, with the main differences being the extra megapixel CCD for higher resolution images, the new gray color compared to the metallic blue of the 2500, and of course the Coolpix 3500 cost a little bit more but remains under $400. Both cameras have found considerable popularity with younger digital camera buyers, and we have seen many college aged users having lot's of fun with them at sporting events etc.....(they are the only cameras you can swivel/twist the lens backwards to take your own picture as you look at/frame yourself & friends in the lcd monitor).
We took these sample shots at the same time we took the 4 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 4300 pictures. Both sample galleries were shot in the full Auto mode with normal picture quality and no alterations have been made to the original files which are available for downloading, printing and close review.
